CathI - Training System for PTCA. A Step Closer to Reality
نویسندگان
چکیده
The number of minimally invasive cardiological interventions has increased over the last few years and therefore computer based training systems find growing interest. They offer a better learning schedule compared to traditional master-apprentice models due to the repeatability of the learning situation and the possibility to learn individual tasks. Below we present the research system CathI that allows (in principle) training of the full endovascular intervention but currently focuses on PTCAs. Having an environment being very close to reality one can not only train the intervention but also learn to use different kinds of catheters, wires and control instruments for the C-arm etc. CathI further supports various patient models.

Tactile VR for hand-eye coordination in simulated PTCA
Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) is a minimally invasive image-guided technique for treatment of coronary diseases. PTCA procedure requires physicians to have good skills of hand-eye coordination in performing the operation. Training of PTCA thus very much emphasizes skill building for hand-eye coordination. We have been developing virtual reality (VR) technology for medica...

Background: Practice of interventional cardiology procedures such as Coronary angiography (CA) and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) has largely increased in recent years and is now changing to a matter of routine in many hospitals. The purpose of this study was to measure skin and organ doses in patients undergoing CA and PTCA and to find a probable relation with c...
متن کاملThe effect of virtual reality training program on the Functional Fitness of the elderly
Introduction: The aging populations around the world are rising dramatically. Decreased age-related functional fitness that including muscle strength, flexibility, balance, agility, speed, and aerobic endurance, negatively affects the quality of life. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of virtual reality exercises on the elderlychr('39')s functional fitness. Meth...
متن کاملThe value of myocardial perfusion imaging with Tc-99m MIBI for the prediction of perfusion improvement after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty
Introduction: Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) is an effective method for revascularizing of stenotic coronary vessels. Lack of response to this treatment, either in symptomatic or asymptomatic patients, is usually due to incomplete revascularization, restenosis, and/or irreversibility of myocardial perfusion. Introduction of a noninvasive metho...
